Netflix Bites Tablescaping Concept

I worked with Lori Choi at Studio Sera+ to create IP driven tablescaping concepts for the Las Vegas Netflix Bites Restaurant in MGM Casino. We were tasked to design the Hero centerpieces of the menu - 4 choices meant to transport the guest into the show of choice upon delivery to the table.

Stranger Things   - to be chicken and waffle sandwiches, matching El’s favorite food. Half standard sandwiches, and half dyed black to indicate the pull between the normal town of Hawkins and the upside down
Bridgerton    - to be a Royal high tea with finger treats on a tea tower
Money Heist - to be a fondue set, with golden cheese
Squid Game    - to be a fried chicken platter with dipping sauces

I always love starting with pen and paper to ensure limitless brainstorming. After we had a blast developing these, we moved into Rhino 7 to deliver the final concept renderings. I handled the Stranger Things & Bridgerton table Renderings.

In this project I was able to grow my capabilities with collaborative concept design, culinary experiences, themed entertainment design, and interactive branding. 





Stranger Things - El’s Fried Feast


Base Tablescaping:
Ordering El's Fried Feast would transform the table - bringing a tablecloth trimmed in Upside Down tendrils, red napkins folded to resemble Demogorgon mouths, and tendril sauce cup holders. Standard plates would be elevated with themed layered paper oil blotters, the logo bursting through the Byer's family house wallpaper.

Centerpiece Concept 1: El’s Fried Chicken Bucket
The first concept for the centerpiece played on the original 80's fried chicken buckets - overrun by Upside Down Tendrils trying to get inside through the webbed portal (cotton candy). The base cafeteria tray also holds the Tendril sauce cup holders. After getting through the cotton candy web, the custom container with sandwiches can be pulled up and accessed.

Centerpiece Concept 2: The Upside-Down Flip
This kinetic concept plays on the idea of travel between the normal town of Hawkins vs. the Upside Down. The display plate rotates on its diagonal axis and the two variations of chicken sandwich are pinned to their respective themed sides. Spiked Bats pin the black Upside Down sandwiches to one side, and Tendrils pin the Normal Hawkins sandwiches to the other side. The mirrored plate below holds the side dish of fried onions, catching the delicious drippings of the sandwiches and reflecting the sandwiches of the Upside Down.

Centerpiece Concept 3: The D20 Spin
A simplified kinetic concept to also explore the travel between Normal Hawkins and the Upside down. A custom D20 cloche - inspired after the kids' love of D&D, uncovers a lazy suzan with the two themed sides and corresponding sandwiches.


Bridgerton - Royal High Tea


Base Tablescaping:
Our Bridgerton High Tea experience began with the delivery of Ms. Whistledowns Society Papers. This would be a custom menu of the treats to come and a fun takeaway for fans. Smaller pieces of paper stylized to look like Dance Cards came out with the menus. On it, guests would fill out who they'd like to "Dine With" that evening; with a choice of the Featherington, Sharma, Bridgerton, or Danbury family. Each set was designed after the aesthetics of each family. The Featherington set featuring a tight knit floral pattern in yellow; the Sharma set featuring bees and indian inspired patterns in purple; the Bridgerton set featuring a damask pattern in blue; and the Danbury set featuring ornate stripes in red. The "Dine With:" function offered 4 different Bridgerton family options - each resulting in the guest getting to "Dine With" corresponding custom china. The components of these sets are the pattern rimmed plate, matching tea cup and saucer, and napkin ring with a side profile cameo relief of the families’ principal character.

Tea Tower Variations: 
We designed 3 tea tower variations with differing profiles, the plates set into the towers have one each of three “Dine With” family china selections. Flowers are a huge aesthetic component of Bridgerton, so we wanted to make sure to be able to bring flowers to the table in the mounted bud vase - which would act like a handle before being topped with the vase. The variation without the “tea garage” space would come out with a golden tableside cart for extra fanfare.
